A comprehensive multi-organ proteomic atlas of human aging across 50 years
-
Abstract
Aging progressively compromises every organ's function, yet its proteomic landscape in humans has remained largely unmapped. A landmark study published in Cell now fills this gap by presenting the first comprehensive human proteomic atlas of aging across 50 years in multiple organs. Leveraging next-generation mass spectrometry, the authors chart protein expression patterns across the lifespan and uncover shared hallmarks - declining proteostasis, chronic inflammation, distinct organ-specific protein aging "clock", and vascular aging as a hub to communicate with other organs.
